Saltire Signal

Editorial standards

Our standards code, complaints process, corrections policy and fact-checking approach.

Standards code

We publish accurate, attributed, proportionate summaries of Scottish public-interest news. We do not reproduce article bodies, hide source links, or present sponsored material as editorial work.

Complaints

Send complaints to complaints@saltiresignal.co.uk. Include the URL, the disputed wording, evidence for the correction and whether urgency is legal, safety or factual.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected visibly. We state what changed and when. Prediction errors stay in the scorecard once Phase 2 is live.

Fact-checking

Aggregation is attributed to the source that reported it. Where we rely on official documents, figures or public records, we identify them plainly and avoid adding allegations not supported by the linked material.

IPSO-compatible approach

We follow the spirit of accuracy, privacy, harassment, children, discrimination, suicide-reporting and court-reporting protections, with Scottish contempt and anonymity rules treated as hard guardrails.
